Recently, some divorce news has arisen regarding the baseball executive Brian Cashman. Cashman is the general manager of the New York Yankees. It has recently been reported that Cashman's wife has filed for a divorce from Cashman.
This divorce news comes amid public allegations that Cashman was in an affair. This reportedly is the second time public allegations of an affair have arisen in connection to Cashman in the past few years.
According to the Fox Sports article which reported this story, Cashman's wife filed her divorce petition last Friday in a court in Connecticut. In her divorce petition, Cashman's wife reportedly cited the marriage being irretrievably broken.
Cashman and his wife have two children. Reportedly, Cashman's wife has made a child custody-related request in her divorce filing. Specifically, Cashman's wife has reportedly asked for joint custody of the couple's two children.
Cashman's wife has also reportedly made a couple of property/finance-related requests in her divorce petition. According to the above-mentioned Fox Sports article, Cashman's wife has asked for a split of the couple's property and has requested that she be granted permanent alimony.
As this divorce case illustrates, important issues (such as child custody, spousal support and property division) can arise in connection to a divorce. Sometimes, couples are able to resolve such issues amicably. Other times, such issues end up having to be resolved through legal battles. One wonders how Cashman and his wife will end up resolving the issues of child custody, property division and spousal support in their divorce.
