Recently, some interesting divorce-related statistics have come to light. The statistics are from a survey that was conducted by the Pew Charitable Trusts. The statistics regard income changes for men and women after a divorce.
The statistics indicate that, over the past couple of decades, the percentage of women who are bouncing back strongly when it comes to finances after a divorce has been increasing. Reportedly, the survey found that, currently, about 20 percent of women see income gains exceeding 25 percent after getting divorced. According to an article on CBS News' website, two decades ago, the percentage of women who saw such income gains after a divorce was at about half this level.
These changes have made it so the percentage of women who experience 25 percent-plus income gains after a divorce now exceeds the percentage of men who experience such gains. According to the above-mentioned survey, currently, only 16 percent of men see income gains greater than 25 percent after a divorce.
Thus, these statistics from the Pew Charitable Trusts survey indicate that, in recent years, we have been seeing a trend of an increase in the number of women who are seeing substantial income gains after a divorce. This trend gives rise to some interesting questions. What is causing this increase in the number of women who are seeing income gains after a divorce? Will this trend continue in upcoming years or will it level off? It will be interesting to see how these questions are ultimately answered.
