Recently, some details have arisen regarding the issue of property division in the divorce between NBA star Kobe Bryant and his wife.

As we discussed in an earlier post, Bryant's wife filed for a divorce from Bryant in December.

One important issue that can arise in connection to a divorce is how property will be divided between the two parties to a divorce. Reportedly, Bryant and his wife did not have a prenuptial agreement controlling how property would be divided in a divorce. However, the former couple has reportedly reached a settlement agreement regarding the issue of property division in their divorce.

Recently, some details have come to light regarding how property will be divided between Bryant and his wife under this settlement agreement. According to an article on TMZ's website, Bryant's wife will receive around $75 million under the agreement. This reportedly is about half of the former couple's assets.

The TMZ article also said that, under the agreement, Bryant's wife will receive possession of three mansions that the former couple has in California's Newport Beach area.

This case illustrates a couple of points. First, it shows how property division is one of the issues that can arise in connection to a divorce. Second, it illustrates how divorcing parties will sometimes reach settlement agreements regarding the division of property. It will be interesting to see if the settlement agreement that Bryant and his wife have reportedly reached does, in fact, completely resolve the issue of property division in their divorce.
